3 Prepare 2 Always follow the instructions in this chapter in sequence. Connect to an existing audio system Use controls of your existing audio system to select the audio source that corresponds to AW1000. Connect power and switch on Caution •• Risk of product damage! Make sure that the power supply voltage matches the voltage printed on the bottom of the unit. •• Risk of electric shock! When you unplug the AC cord, always pull the plug from the socket. Never pull the cord.
4 Connect AW1000 to your home WiFi network There are two options for you to set up connection between AW1000 and your existing home Wi-Fi network. • Wired connection Use an Ethernet cable (not supplied) to connect AW1000 to your home Wi-Fi router directly. After successful connection, you can enjoy wireless streaming to AW1000 through your home Wi-Fi network. Before connection of AW1000 to you home Wi-Fi network, make sure that: a your Wi-Fi router is powered on and working properly.
Option 2: Set up wireless connection 1 Tap Setup a new speaker, read the general setup steps, then tap Next to continue. 3 Check the power-on status of your AW1000 as instructed, then tap Next to continue. (For iPod touch/iPhone/iPad users) Install Philips AirStudio from Apple App Store and run the app. • 8 2 EN (For users of Android smartphones or tablets) Install Philips AirStudio from Android Market and run the app.
4 Follow the on-screen instructions until successful setup of Wi-Fi connection between AW1000 and your home Wi-Fi network.
5 Play 3 Tap the icon of your device to show music available for streaming. 4 Select a song from the list to start play. Stream audio to AW1000 Note •• Make sure that your iOS/Android device or PC/Mac is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as AW1000. Stream from your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet 1 Run Philips AirStudio on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. 2 Hold and drag the icon of your device towards the speaker to set up Wi-Fi connection.
Stream from your PC/Mac To stream music from your PC/Mac to AW1000, first install a media sharing software (such as Media Manager available on www. philips.com/mediamanager) onto your PC/Mac. In this way, your PC/Mac can work as a media sharing server that streams music to compliant players. 1 Download Media Manager from www. philips.com/mediamanager. 2 Install Media Manager onto your PC/Mac with the license key available on the quick start guide.
2 Run Philips AirStudio on your iOS or Android smartphone or tablet. 3 Tap Services -> Philips AW1000. 4 Tap AUX-IN to select the external audio source. 5 Use the controls on your external device to control music play. Tip •• You can add your favorite stations to the preset list as instructed on the app. Then, you can press the numeric keys (1-5) on AW1000 directly to tune to the corresponding radio station.
6 Upgrade firmware 4 Tap Firmware upgrade -> Check Online to check for new firmware. 5 If a new firmware is available, tap OK to start download and installation of the new firmware until completion of the process. To improve the performance of AW1000, Philips may offer you new firmware for upgrade of your AW1000. Warning •• Always connect your AW1000 to AC power for firmware upgrade. Never power off your AW1000 during firmware upgrade.

When you contact Philips, ensure that the apparatus is nearby and the model number and serial number are available.

Check if your network speed is fast enough (in cases where multiple devices share the same router, the wireless performance may be affected). Turn off the other devices connected to your home router. Enable the Quality of Service (QoS) option (if available on the Wi-Fi router). Turn off other Wi-Fi routers.
