Acquainting yourself with the video recorder’s features is the best way to guarantee trouble-free operation.

2. INSTALLATION. HOW DO | INSTALL THE VIDEO RECORDER ? ENGLISH Before making any connections, note the connecting diagram on page 6 and the safety instructions on page 37. Connecting to the aerial © Remove the cable aerial plug from the TV set and insert it into the [ socket at the rear of the video recorder. @ Use the aerial cable supplied to connect the (B 1 socket on the video recorder with the aerial input socket on your TV set. Both units are now connected to the aerial.

You can then use the "manual post-search” function to find these channels. What are frequencies and channels ? The TV stations broadcast their programmed via TV transmitters on different frequencies (MHz indication) and channels {CH indication) or special channels {CA indication).

PLAYING A RECORDED CASSETTE With this video recorder, you can play any video cassette which has been recorded with the VHS format. €@ Switch on the TV set. © Insert the cassette with the recording on it straight into the cassette compartment. The window must be facing upwards., When starting play with the [PLAY®] button, many modern TV sets automatically switch over to the programmer position intended for video playback "EXT", "0" or “AV.
T ENGLISH Fast forward wind and rewind Slow motion forwards or reverse @ Press the button then the [SPEEDINESS ] button (rewind) or the [SPEED BE ] button {fast forward wind). The display on the video recorder indicates "REWIND® or “WIND". The tape is wound at fast speed in the corresponding direction. @ Press the [HOUSETOP I W button if you wish to stop fast winding. Still advance © During playback, press the [STILL® ] button on the remote control. The frame freezes.
Forward and reverse picture search It is possible to select the different forward and reverse picture search speeds with the buttons on the remote control and on the video recorder. @ During playback, repeatedly press the [SPREE] or button until the recorder has reached the desired search speed. The video recorder’s display indicates, e.g., *FAST", "SCAN", or *REVERSE", "FAST", "SCAN". © Press the button to return fo playback.
R —— How do | know where | am currently on the tape? It is convenient to know how long a tape has been placing. After inserting a formed hour cassette into the video recorder and selecting a tape run function, {'PLAYBACK" or "RECORDING", for example), the recorder automatically measures the tape length {with the exception of the E300 cassette). The length of the tape appears briefly in the display on the video recorder (for example, "CASSETTE E 180%.

6. HOW DO | PROGRAMMER A RECORDING? In this chapter you will learn how to programmer the video recorder, It switches itself on automatically, records the TV programmer you want, and then switches itself off again automatically. The video recorder stores all of the information it requires for recording in what is known as a TIMER block. It can store this information up to four weeks in advance. Your video recorder can stare these TIMER blocks. Note that the times of the TIMER blocks must not overlap.
Programming with "Show View" This method makes programming your video recorder as easy as dialing a telephone number. All you need to do is enter the {thereto nine digit) Show View code which is printed in your TV guide next to the starting time for the TV programmer. When programming any TV channel the first time, the video recorder first has to "learn” on which programmer position the respective channel is stored. Insert a cassette which is not protected against recording into the video recorder.
© Confirm the TIMER data with the [TIMESERVER @ ] button, or © enter a different end time (= switch-off time) with the button. Each pressure on the button adds 15 minutes to the end time. © Confirm the entries made with the TIMER VER@ | button. If one or more TIMER blocks are occupied, the video recorder’s display indicates TIMER. Programming now is completed. The data has been stored in a TIMER block. If the video recorder's display indicates ERROR', repeat steps @ ©.

Enter the time at which the recording is to start as four figures, @ Use the [SELECT | button to switch the VPS/PDC function on or off, Some important notes on PDC/VPS: « Observe the PDC/VPS notes in your TV programmer guide. « If you enter a start and end time that differ from the time code, you must switch off "VPS' or "PDC" with the button on the remote control otherwise no TIMER recording will be possible. Press the button on the remote control to confirm the entry made.

A few general notes on programming 26 The programmed recording will always be effected with the recording speed (SP or LP), currently selected on the video recorder. If the indication "TIMER REC" flashes in the video recorder's display, you must at once press the [STANLEY & button on the remote control. If you have forgotten to insert a cassette after programming, the recorder's display indicates *NO CASSIA.
7. EDITING VIDEO RECORDINGS It is not possible to simply cut video tapes with a pair of scissors then splice them. If you wish to join new scenes without disturbing transitions and exactly to the picture into existing recordings, it is necessary to use an electronic cutting facility when copying from one video tape to another.
