Preparation Make sure that the wall mount (see wall mounting instructions supplied) is being fixed securely enough so that it can carry at least 50 kg. & Place the receiver box wherever you want, but leave at least 5 cm space free all around the box for ventilation. (E.g. on the ground, in a cupboard, behind a wall, in another room....) é Connect one of the supplied aerial cables 1, and the DISPLAY POWER 3, DISPLAY VIDEO 2, and SUBWOOFER 4 cables as shown in the inside frontcover of this handbook.

Give name INSTALLATION Menu Language Country Automatic Installation Manual Installation Give Name Reshuffle Favourite Programmes Decoder/Descrambler Setup It is possible to change the name stored in the memory or to assign a name to a TV channel which has not yet been entered. A name with up to 5 letters or numbers can be given to the programme numbers 0 to 99. For example SUPER, BBC1,... Between 99 and 0, in the column in the middle, you can also name any peripherals that are connected.

+ π + - ¬ - V j Continuous subtitles TV channels with teletext often transmit certain programmes with subtitling. Switch on teletext and select the proper subtitle page from the index. Press j to store the subtitle page. Switch off teletext. Every time a programme of the selected TV channel is subtitled, the subtitling will be available for that channel. Press j to switch subtitles On or Off. When switched on and the subtitle symbol appears, there are no subtitles available for that programme.

Sound menu • SOUND GRAPHIC Volume Balance Graphic Equalizer Sound Style Sound Mode Loudness Speech Spatial Headphone Dolby Pro Logic Install Bass Store the modified adjustments for Volume, Balance, Treble and Bass values from the Graphic Equalizer menu and Spatial, as well as the headphone volume and balance for all TV channels with General PP store in the FEATURES menu. Sound style / Graphic Equalizer This menu item has the same functions as the Smart Controls key Sound on the remote control.

FEATURES TIMERS Timers With the Timers menu you can make your TV automatically switch to a specific programme number from standby or switch over to a different programme number at a specific time and date. Teletext Most TV channels broadcast information via teletext. Each channel which broadcasts teletext transmits a page with information on how to use its teletext system. Look for the teletext page with the main index (usually p. 100). TV programmes are sometimes subtitled for the hard of hearing. Connect Peripheral Equipment There is a wide range of audio and video equipment that can be connected to your receiver. The following connection diagrams show you how to connect it to the back or the front side of the receiver. CABLE EXTERNAL 2 1 Video recorder 2 Note: Do not place your video recorder too close to the screen as some video recorders may be susceptible for signals out of the display.

Camera and camcorder L 1 2 A U D R IO VI • • • EO S D •VH S • Connect your camera or camcorder at the front side of your receiver. Connect the equipment to VIDEO 2 and AUDIO L 1 for mono equipment. Press the X key of the remote control repeatedly to select the sound coming from one or both loudspeakers of your TV. Also connect AUDIO R 1 for stereo equipment. S-VHS quality with a S-VHS camcorder is obtained by connecting the S-VHS cables with the S-VHS input 3 and AUDIO inputs 1.

External loudspeakers You can replace the left, right and centre loudspeakers of your set by three extra loudspeakers, min. 8 Ohm. • EXTERNAL SPEAKERS INTERNAL SPEAKERS Push the connector clip down and insert the end of the wire into the opening: the positive wires of the front speakers (the ones with the black line) to the red loudspeaker connections; the negative wires to the black loudspeaker connections.

Connect your computer • Connect one end of a VGA cable (not supplied) to the video card of the computer and the other end to the VGA IN connector at the rear side of the receiver or at the VGA connector behind the door at the front of the receiver. See also p. 16, VGA input. Fix the connectors firmly with the screws on the plug.

• Daisy chaining The Active Loop Thru facility makes it possible to make a daisy chain. Connect the monitors (max. 2) before inserting the mains plug in the wall socket. Connect another VGA cable to the VGA OUT connector at the back of the receiver and to the VGA IN connector of a second VGA monitor. VGA VGA IN OUT VGA IN Note: Daisy chaining is also possible via the VGA IN connector at the front.

To select connected equipment If the TV is connected to a video recorder with the EasyLink function, in some cases the TV will be switched on, even when the TV was in standby. (E.g. playback tape,...) This is not possible when Child Lock On is selected. • Equipment connected with an aerial cable only : Select the programme number under which you have stored the test signal of that equipment with the digit keys.

Record with your video recorder without EasyLink SETUP If you have connected a S-VHS video recorder you can only record S-VHS quality from a S-VHS peripheral connected to the front side of the receiver. (E.g. from a S-VHS camcorder). Record with a video recorder with EasyLink If you have connected a S-VHS video recorder provided with the EasyLink function, you can record S-VHS-quality from a S-VHS peripheral connected to the front side of the receiver. (E.g. from a S-VHS camcorder.) • • In TV mode, it is possible to start a direct recording of the programme which is being displayed on the TV screen. Press the record key ® under the door of the remote control of the TV or of the video recorder or the record key on the video recorder.

Tips Care of the screen Clean the TV with a slightly damp soft cloth. Do not use abrasive solvent as it can damage the TV screen. Plasma Display characteristics When switching over to another picture after having displayed the same still picture for a long time (many hours), it may happen that some parts from the previous picture will remain on screen due to a kind of memory effect. This ghost picture will disappear after some time.

Lexicon 100 Hz 100 Hertz provides a superior solution to the problem of picture flicker which is particularly noticeable with larger screen sizes. In a conventional TV, the picture area is scanned 50 times a second (50 Hertz) – a frequency which is still detectable by the human eye in the form of a flickering picture. In 100 Hertz sets, the picture area is scanned at a rate of 100 times per second (100 Hertz).
