Calibration
A simple formula is usually used to convert the measured mv/V output from the load cell to the measured force:
Measured Force = A * Measured mV/V + B (offset)
It’s important to decide what unit your measured force is - grams, kilograms, pounds, etc. The specication is in
kilgorams, but you can generate the formula for whatever unit of measure you need.
The Certicate that is included with your load cell will specify an exact rated output. As an example, assume the
rated output is 1.0791, corresponding to the capacity of 50kg.
To nd A we use
Capacity = A * Rated Output
A = Capacity / Rated Output
A = 50 / 1.0791
A = 45.155
Since the Offset is quite variable between individual load cells, it’s necessary to calculate the offset for each sensor.
Measure the output of the load cell with no force on it and note the mv/V output measured by the PhidgetBridge.
Offset = 0 - 46.335 * Measured Output
