Disengaging
the
upper
knife
Note:
To
disengage
the
upper
knife
(45)
you
must
set
the
seam
width
adjusting
knob
(16)
to
3
mm.
Lower
the
knife
to
the
lowest
position
with
the
hand
wheel.
Now
turn
the
knob
to
disengage
the
upper
knife
(40)
fully
to
the
left
(triangle
on
0).
The
knife
is
disen
gaged.
Upper
knife
lock
You
can
sew
absolutely
any
type
of
fabric
with
this
machine,
regardless
of
its
thick
ness.
For
extremely
thick
fabrics
you
must
tighten
the
axial
lock
screw
on
the
upper
knife
with
the
large
screwdriver
from
the
accessories
(see
page
58).
This
prevents
the
knife
from
being
displaced
by
the
material.
Remove
the
sewing
foot
and
needle
plate
(see
page
28,
29).
To
sew
light
fabrics
the
screw
must
be
loo
sened
by
about
two
turns,
so
that
the
knife
can
again
move
in
an
axial
(side
ways)
direction.
Note:
The
screw
for
the
upper
knife
must
be
loosened
to
change
the
cutting
width.
Adjusting

sewing
foot
pressure
You
can
change
the
sewing
foot
pressure
depending
on
the
thickness
of
the
mate
rial
with
the
lever
(21).
