What to do if an Air Spring
Ruptures
If an air spring is ruptured, drive the vehicle
to a safe stop off the highway to investigate
the problem.
WARNING!
Do not continue to drive with ruptured air
springs. The air loss can cause the spring
brakes to apply allowing your brakes to drag
and burn up the linings, which could lead to
an accident causing death or personal in-
jury. Do not continue to operate the vehicle
in this condition.
WARNING!
Do not drive the vehicle if the air pressure is
less than 100 psi (690 kPa). Driving the ve-
hicle with less than 100 psi (690 kPa) could
make the brakes unsafe to use which could
cause an accident involving death or per-
sonal injury.
CAUTION
Operating a vehicle with air suspension
bags either overinflated or underinflated
may cause damage to driveline compo-
nents. If a vehicle must be operated under
such conditions, do not exceed 5 mph (8
km/h). Failure to comply may result in equip-
ment damage.
You can get to a repair facility by removing
the height control link connected to the
axle and to the suspension air valve control
arm. This will cause the air valve control
arm to center in the closed position.
Removing the link will allow the air system
of the truck to operate normally so that the
vehicle can be driven to a service center.
Aftertreatment System
General information on the emissions
aftertreatment system in your vehicle.
This vehicle has an exhaust Aftertreatment
System (ATS), to control vehicle exhaust
emissions.The exhaust Aftertreatment
system consist of a Diesel Particulate Filter
(DPF), Selective Catalyst Reduction
(SCR), Regeneration Switch and warning
lights. The DPF will trap soot from the
engine exhaust gases. The SCR uses
Diesel Exhaust Fluid to reduce the levels of
NOx in the engine exhaust. The ATS will
periodically clean (regenerate) the DPF.
Aftertreatment System Detail
1. Hydrocarbon Doser from Turbo
2. Aftertreatment Unit (DPF, DEF Doser
and SCR)
3. Filtered/Treated Exhaust
4. Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) Tank
Please refer to the Exhaust Aftertreatment
System Supplement provided with the
vehicle for more detailed description of
functionality and warnings.
