Youwillhavetoaddlubricantto
preventdamageafteryourvehiclehas
beentowed.
1.Intothepinioncage,add1pint
(.47liter)oflubricantorintothe
interaxledifferential,add2pints
(.94liter)ofapprovedlubricant.
2.Afteraddingthespeciedtype
andamountoflubricant,drivethe
vehicle.Itshouldbeunloaded.
Drive1to2miles(1.5to3km)
ataspeedlowerthan25mph
(40km/h).Thiswillthoroughly
circulatethelubricantthroughthe
assembly.

Recoveringavehiclerequiresthatyou
releasetheparkingbrakes.Theremay
betimeswhenthereisnotenoughair
pressuretoreleasetheparkingbrakes.
Insuchcases,theparkingbrakes
(orSpringBrakes)canbemanually
released.
WARNING!
Donotdrivevehiclewithmalfunc-
tioningbrakes.Ifoneofthebrake
circuitsshouldbecomeinoperative,
brakingdistanceswillincreasesub-
stantiallyandhandlingcharacteris-
ticswhilebrakingwillbeaffected.
Youcouldlosecontrolofyourvehi-
cleorcauseanaccident.Haveit
towedtothenearestdealerorqual-
iedrepairfacilityforrepair.Failure
tocomplymayresultindeath,per-
sonalinjury,equipmentorproperty
damage.
Thebrakescanbereleasedinthis
mannershouldthepressureintheair
systemnotbeenoughtoreleasethem.
Thismayoccurininstanceswhere
theengine'saircompressorisnot
abletogetthesystemuptooperating
pressure.
WARNING!
Donotdisassembleaspringbrake
chamber.Thesechamberscon-
tainapowerfulspringthatiscom-
pressed.Suddenreleaseofthis
springmayresultindeathorper-
sonalinjury.
