valuesaftertherst2,000miles(3,218
km)ofserviceandevery60,000miles
(96,000km)thereafter.
Torquerecommendationsapplyto
fastenerssuppliedandinstalledby
vehiclemanufacture.Thevalueslisted
inthetablesbelow,areforcadmium
platedorphosphateandoilfasteners
only.
U-boltsaredifculttotightenunless
youhavetherightequipment.Ifyou
cannottightenthemcorrectlyyourself,
besuretohavethemcheckedand
tightenedregularlybyanauthorized
mechanic.
U-BoltTorque
NOTE
Toensureanaccuratetorqueread-
ing,useproperlymaintainedand
calibratedtorquewrenches.Clean
thenutandbolt.Nodirt,grit,orrust
shouldbepresent.
WARNING!
Donotoperatethevehicleifthe
U-boltsarenotproperlytightened.
LooseU-boltswillcausetheaxle
tonotbeproperlysecuredtothe
suspension,whichcouldcauseloss
ofvehiclecontrolandanaccident.
LooseU-boltscanalsocauseun-
eventirewearandpooralignment.
Failuretocomplymayresultin
death,personalinjury,equipmentor
propertydamage.
NOTE
Wheneverpossible,torqueallfas-
tenersonthenutend,notthebolt
head.
