LOWtoHIGH(Cruising)
Whenyougofromroughterrainto
highwaydriving,shifttheaxletothe
HIGHrangefollowingthisprocedure:
1.Besurethedifferentialis
UNLOCKED.
2.Maintainyourvehiclespeed
(acceleratordepressed)andmove
theRangeSelectorlevertoHIGH.
3.Keepdrivingwiththeaccelerator
depresseduntilyouwanttheaxle
toshift.
4.Tomaketheaxleshift,releasethe
acceleratoruntiltheaxleshifts.
YouarenowintheHIGHaxle
rangeforhighwayspeeds.Shift
thetransmissionnormallytoreach
yourdesiredcruisingspeed.
HIGHtoLOW(RoughTerrain)
Ifyouneedtodownshifttheaxlefor
morepoweroryouaredrivingon
roughterrain:
1.Maintainyourvehiclespeed
(acceleratordepressed)andmove
theRangeSelectorlevertoLOW.
2.Keepdrivingwiththeaccelerator
depresseduntilyouwanttheaxle
todownshift.
3.Tomaketheaxledownshift,
releaseanddepressthe
acceleratorquicklytoincreasethe
engineRPM.Theaxlewillshiftto
LOWrange.
4.YouarenowintheLOWaxle
rangeforroughterrainandheavy
loads.Shiftthetransmission
normallytomaintainthedesired
speed.
AuxiliaryAxles-Pusheror
Tag
Adjustableauxiliaryaxles(commonly
knownasPusherorTagaxles)can
addtotheproductivityofthevehicleby
increasingtheloadcapabilitiesofthe
vehiclewhentheyareinthedeployed
(down)position.Therearedifferent
congurationsofaxleswithdifferent
functionality(liftableversussteerable)
Withouttheextraaxle,theexcessive
weightcanreducetheservicelife
ofvehiclecomponentssuchas,but
notlimitedto,theframerail,axles,
suspensionandbrakes.
Operationoftheauxiliaryaxles
includesthepropermaintenanceofthe
systemandcalibrationofitscontrols.
Operatingtheauxiliaryaxleswillalso
requirearmunderstandingofthe
