"Riding"theClutch
Theclutchisnotafootrest.Donot
drivewithyourfootrestingonthe
clutchpedal.Itwillallowyourclutch
toslip,causingexcessiveheatand
wear—damagecouldresult.
ReleaseBearingWear
Whenyoumustidleyourengineforany
periodoftime,shiftyourtransmission
toNeutralanddisengagetheclutch
(takeyourfootOFFofthepedal).This
helpspreventunnecessarywearto
yourclutchreleasebearing,anditis
lesstiringforyou,too.
ClutchAdjustment
Inspectmanualclutchesaccordingto
themanufacturer'srecommendations.
Regularmaintenanceshouldbe
followedtomaintaincorrectclutch
adjustment.Haveyourdealer's
ServiceDepartmentperformany
adjustmentnecessary.

makingupshiftsordownshifts.
•Alwaysselectastartinggear
thatwillprovidesufcientgear
reductionfortheloadandterrain.
•Neverdownshiftwhenthevehicle
ismovingtoofast.
•Neverslamorjerktheshiftlever
tocompletegearengagement.
•Nevercoastwiththetransmission
inNeutralandtheclutch
disengaged.
•Toprovidesmoothgear
engagementswhileshifting,
usepropercoordinationbetween
shiftleverandclutch.
