Thissectiondescribesresponsibilities
forthevehiclenoiseemissions.For
informationaboutexhaustemissions,
pleaserefertotheaftertreatement
systemoperatorsmanual.
Therearespeciccomponentson
thevehiclethataredesignedtomeet
certainEnvironmentalProtection
Agency(EPA)emissionsandnoise
regulations.Tomaintainconformance
withtheregulations,thesecomponents
needtobefunctionalandproperly
maintained.
TamperingwithNoiseControl
System
Federallawprohibitsthefollowing
actsorthecausingthereof:
(1)Theremovalorrendering
inoperativebyanypersonotherthan
forpurposesofmaintenance,repair,or
replacement,ofanydeviceorelement
ofdesignincorporatedintoanynew
vehicleforthepurposeofnoisecontrol
priortoitssaleordeliverytothe
ultimatepurchaserorwhileitisinuse,
or(2)theuseofthevehicleaftersuch
deviceorelementofdesignhasbeen
removedorrenderedinoperativeby
anyperson.

•Removingorrenderinginoperative
theaircleaner/silencersorintake
piping.
EngineCoolingSystem
•Removingorrenderinginoperative
thefanclutch.
•Removingthefanshroud.
Engine
•Removingorrenderingengine
speedgovernorinoperativesoas
toallowenginespeedtoexceed
manufacturer'sspecications.
•ModifyingECUparameters.
ExhaustSystem
•Removingorrenderinginoperative
exhaustsystemcomponents.
