besurethatnooneisnearthefan.

Yourtruckmaybeequippedwithan
On/OfforViscousFanDrive.Follow
theseguidelinestocheckyourengine
fan:
•Checkthefanbearingsforfan
hubbearinglooseness,loss
oflubricantandanyabnormal
conditions.(Forexample,fan
beltmisalignedorexcessive
wear/damage.)Beforestartingthe
engineandwiththeengineoff,
lookandfeelforloosenessinthe
fanhub.
•Withtheengineidlingandthe
hoodopen,standatthefrontof
thevehicle.Listenforanynoises
comingfromthefanhub.Bearings
thathavelostlubricant,andare
dry,willtypicallyemitasqueal
oragrowlwhentheengineisat
operatingtemperatureandthe
fanclutchisengaged.Ifnoiseis
detected,havethefanbearings
inspectedbyanauthorized
dealership.

WARNING!
Donotworkonthefanwiththeen-
ginerunning.Theenginefancan
engageatanytimewithoutwarning.
Beforeturningontheignitionbesure
thatnooneisnearthefan.Failure
tocomplymayresultindeathorper-
sonalinjury.
FanBladeClearance:Aroundthefan
shroud,therecommendeddistance
is1in.(25mm)fromfrontedgeof
anyfanblade-to-radiatorsidemember.
Minimumclearanceis3/4in.(19mm).
•Rearedgeofanyblademustbe
nocloserthan3/8in.(9mm)to
thenearestenginecomponent.If
thiscannotbeobtained,thefan
spacerorfanisnotcorrect.
•Theleadingedgeofanyfanblade
mustbe1in.(25mm)fromthe
insideedgeoftheshroud.
