1.Liftdrivingwheelsofftheground
orremovethedrivelineandaxle
shaftsbeforetowingthevehicle.
CAUTION
Failuretoliftthedrivingwheelsoff
thegroundorremovethedriveline
andaxleshaftsbeforetowingthe
vehiclecouldseriouslydamageyour
vehicle.Alllubricatingandclutch
applicationoilpressureisprovided
byanengine-drivenpump,which
doesnotworkwhentheengineis
stopped.Whenvehiclesaretowed
eitherbywreckerorpiggyback,
lubricantinthetopfrontofthedrive
axlewilldraintotherear.This
willleavethetopcomponentsdry,
resultinginfrictionthatwillseriously
damagethesecomponents.
2.Coveropenhubswhenremoving
driveaxleshafts.
CAUTION
Water,dirtandothermaterialcan
enteranopenhuboraxle.Thiscan
contaminatetheaxleuidandcause
possibledamagetocomponents.
Ensurethatthehubsarecovered
withplasticwheneveradriveaxle
shaftisremoved.
3.Forvehicleswithdriver-controlled
maindifferentiallock,installthe
cagingboltbeforeremovingthe
axleshaftsfortowing.
a.Removetheairlineandrmly
cap.
b.Removethecagingboltfrom
itsstoragehole.
c.Screwthecagingboltinto
theairlinehole.When
fullyengaged,a0.25-0.5
in.(6.35-12.7mm)space
willremainbetweentheair
cylinderandthebolthead.
