PowerSteering
Oil(underlowpressure)providesthe
powertooperatethesteeringgear.It
alsoservestolubricatemovingparts
andremoveheat.Alossofsteering
efciencywilloccuriftoomuchheat
buildsupinthesystem.
WARNING
Donotoperatethevehicleifthe
steeringsystemisnotworking
properly.Youcouldlosecontrol
ofyourvehicleifthesteering
systemisnotingoodworking
condition,whichcouldresultina
seriousaccident.Fordrivingsafety,
visuallycheckthesteeringgear
andcomponents.Frequentchecks
areimportantfordrivingsafety,
especiallyaftertravelingoverrough
roads.Failuretocomplymayresult
indeath,personalinjury,equipment
orpropertydamage.
Ifthesteeringfeelsunbalancedfrom
side-to-sidewhileturning,checkfor
thefollowingpossiblecauses:
•unequaltirepressures
•vehicleoverloadedorunevenly
distributedload
•wheelsoutofalignment
•wheelbearingsimproperly
adjusted
Ifyoucannotcorrecttheproblem,
checkwithanauthorizeddealer.
Yourvehicleisequippedwithintegral
powersteering.Thesystemincludes
anengine-drivenuidpump,auid
reservoir,thesteeringgear,and
connectinghoses.Becauseofthe
hydraulicpowerassist,littleeffortis
requiredtoturnthesteeringwheel.
Whennoinputisappliedthroughthe
steeringwheel,thesteeringgearwill
returntotheneutralposition.If,for
anyreason,thepowerassistsystem
goesout,steeringthevehicleisstill
possible,yetitwillrequiremuch
greatereffort.
