Torquerecommendationsapplyto
fastenerssuppliedandinstalledby
vehiclemanufacture.Thevalueslisted
inthetablesbelow,areforcadmium
platedorphosphateandoilfasteners
only.
U-boltsaredifculttotightenunless
youhavetherightequipment.Ifyou
cannottightenthemcorrectlyyourself,
besuretohavethemcheckedand
tightenedregularlybyanauthorized
mechanic.

NOTE
Toensureanaccuratetorque
reading,useproperlymaintained
andcalibratedtorquewrenches.
Cleanthenutandbolt.Nodirt,grit,
orrustshouldbepresent.
WARNING
Donotoperatethevehicleifthe
U-boltsarenotproperlytightened.
LooseU-boltswillcausetheaxle
tonotbeproperlysecuredtothe
suspension,whichcouldcause
lossofvehiclecontrolandan
accident.LooseU-boltscanalso
causeuneventirewearandpoor
alignment.Failuretocomplymay
resultindeath,personalinjury,
equipmentorpropertydamage.
NOTE
Wheneverpossible,torqueall
fastenersonthenutend,notthe
bolthead.
