Yourtruckmaybeequippedwithan
On/OfforViscousFanDrive.Follow
theseguidelinestocheckyourengine
fan:
Checkthefanbearingsforfanhub
bearinglooseness,lossoflubricant
andanyabnormalconditions.(For
example,fanbeltmisalignedor
excessivewear/damage.)Before
startingtheengineandwiththeengine
off,lookandfeelforloosenessinthe
fanhub.
Withtheengineidlingandthehood
open,standatthefrontofthevehicle.
Listenforanynoisescomingfrom
thefanhub.Bearingsthathavelost
lubricant,andaredry,willtypicallyemit
asquealoragrowlwhentheengineis
atoperatingtemperatureandthefan
clutchisengaged.Ifnoiseisdetected,
havethefanbearingsinspectedbyan
authorizeddealership.
FanDriveandBlade

Donotworkonthefanwiththe

surethatnooneisnearthefan.

FanBladeClearance:Aroundthefan
shroud,therecommendeddistance
is1in.(25mm)fromfrontedgeof
anyfanblade-to-radiatorsidemember.
Minimumclearanceis3/4in.(19mm).
•Rearedgeofanyblademustbe
nocloserthan3/8in.(9mm)to
thenearestenginecomponent.If
thiscannotbeobtained,thefan
spacerorfanisnotcorrect.
•Theleadingedgeofanyfanblade
mustbe1in.(25mm)fromthe
insideedgeoftheshroud.
