WARNING
Donotcoastwiththetransmission
inneutralorwiththeclutchpedal
depressed—itisadangerous
practice.Coastinginneutralmay
resultindamagetoyourdrivetrain
whenyoutrytore-engagethe
transmission.Youcouldlosecontrol
ofthevehiclewhichcanleadtoan
accidentinvolvingdeathorpersonal
injury.
Donotcoastwiththetransmission
inneutralorwiththeclutchpedal
depressed.Besidesbeingillegaland
dangerous,coastingisalsoexpensive.
Itcausesprematurefailureordamage
totheclutchandtransmissionand
overloadsthebrakesystem.
Coastingwiththetransmission
inneutralalsopreventsproper
transmissioncomponentlubrication.
Duringcoastingthetransmissionis
drivenbytherearwheels,andthe
countershaftgear(whichlubricates
thetransmissioncomponentsbyoil
splash)willonlybeturningatidle
speed.
