Ensurethatnopersonsorobjects
thatcouldbekilled,injuredor
damagedareunderthevehicle
beforedeatingtheairsprings.
•Tominimizeriskofdeath,
personalinjuryorproperty
damage,donotuseadump
valvetodeatetheairsprings.
Rotatetheheightcontrolvalve(s)
manuallytoensurepositive
controlofairspringdeation.
•Tominimizeriskofdeathor
personalinjury,keepawayfrom
airspringsastheyarebeing
inated.
4.Rotatethevalveeitherclockwiseor
counterclockwiseuntilairpressurein
theairspringsprovidestherideheight
speciedforthatsuspension.Measure
therideheightfromthebottomofthe
framerailtotheapproximatecenterline
oftherearmostdriveaxlehub:
•Fortandemaxles,makethe
verticalmeasurementatthe
centerlineofthesuspension(see
illustrationonpage4-52).
•Forasingleaxle,makethe
measurementinfrontoftheaxle,
intheareaforwardofthetiresbut
notpastthesuspensionbracket.
5.Whenatthecorrectrideheight,
ensurethattheheightcontrolvalve
leverisintheneutralposition,then
installeitherthebuilt-inalignment
pinora1/8-inch(3mm)dowel(see
illustrationonpage4-52).
6.Torquethemountingfastenersto
55-75Lb.in.(6.2-8.5Nm.).
7.Removethealignmentpinordowel.
