Donotusetheretarderwhenoperating
onroadsurfaceswithpoortraction
(suchaswet,icy,orsnowcovered
roadsorgravel).Retarderscan
causethewheelstoskidonaslippery
surface.
DrivingBobtailorwithan
UnloadedTrailer
Werecommendthatyoudonotuse
yourengineretardertoslowdown
whenyouarebobtailingorpullingan
emptytrailer.
WARNING
Usinganengineretardercancause
awheellockup.Thetrailerisnot
loadingthetiresenoughtogive
thetractionyoumayneed.When
youarebobtailorunloaded,you
canhaveaseriousaccidentif
yourwheelslocksuddenlyduring
braking.Youcouldbekilledor
injured.Don’tuseyourretarder
whenyouaredrivingbobtailorwith
anunloadedtrailer.
TransmissionRetarder
Ifyouhavethisoption,itwillact
likeabraketoslowyourvehicle
withoutusingthebrakes.T akeyour
footoffthethrottleandoperatethe
retarderswitch.Whenyoudonot
needfullretardereffect,youcan
applyitintermittently(offandon)
tocausegradualorpartialslowing.
Continuousapplicationofyourretarder
willcauseyourhydraulicuidtoget
hotter.Intermittentapplicationwillhelp
preventoverheating.
