Thisvehiclemaybeequipped
withanoptionalElectronicStability
Program(ESP).ESPisafeaturefor
ABS-equippedvehiclesthatreduces
theriskofrollovers,jackkningand
otherlossofcontrolsituations.ESP
featuresincludeRollStabilityProgram
(RSP)andYawControl.
Duringoperation,theECUofthe
Bendix®AdvancedABSsystem
constantlycomparesperformance
modelstothevehicle’sactual
movement,usingthewheelspeed
sensorsoftheABSsystem,aswell
aslateral,yaw,andsteeringangle
sensors.Ifthevehicleshowsa
tendencytoleaveanappropriatetravel
path,orifcriticalthresholdvaluesare
approached,thesystemwillintervene
toassistthedriver.
RollStabilityProgram
Bendix®RSP ,anelementofthe
overallESPsystem,addresses
rolloverconditions.Inthecaseof
apotentialrollevent,theECUwill
overridethethrottleandquicklyapply
brakepressureatallwheelendsto
slowthevehiclecombination.The
levelofbrakingapplicationduringan
RSPeventwillbeproportionaltoroll
risk.

theRSPSystemOperates
Excessivespeedforroadconditions
createsforcesthatexceedthe
thresholdatwhichavehicleislikelyto
rolloveronahigher-frictionsurface.
Thesystemautomaticallyreduces
enginetorqueandappliestheservice
brakes(basedontheprojectedrollover
risk)toreducethevehiclespeed,
therebyreducingthetendencytoroll
over.
