Maintenance Schedule
Preventive maintenance program begins
with the daily and weekly routine checks
Daily Checks on page 35. Routine vehicle
checks can help avoid many large,
expensive, and time consuming repairs.
The vehicle will operate better, be safer,
and last longer. Neglect of recommended
maintenance can void your vehicle’s
warranty. Some maintenance operations
demand skills and equipment you may not
have. For such situations, please take your
vehicle to an authorized Service Center.
WARNING
Before attempting any procedures in
the engine compartment, stop the en-
gine and let it cool down. Hot compo-
nents can burn skin on contact. Failure
to comply may result in death, person-
al injury, equipment or property dam-
age.
WARNING
If the engine must be operating to in-
spect, be alert and cautious around
the engine at all times. Failure to com-
ply may result in death, personal in-
jury, equipment or property damage.
WARNING
If work has to be done with the engine
running, always (1) set the parking
brake, (2) block the wheels, and (3)
ensure that the shift lever or selector is
in Neutral. Failure to comply may re-
sult in death, personal injury, equip-
ment or property damage.
WARNING
Exercise extreme caution to prevent
neckties, jewelry, long hair or loose
clothing from getting caught in the fan
blades or another moving engine
parts. Failure to comply may result in
death, personal injury, equipment or
property damage.
WARNING
Always support the vehicle with appro-
priate safety stands if it is necessary to
work underneath the vehicle. A jack is
not adequate for this purpose. Failure
to comply may result in death, person-
al injury, equipment or property dam-
age.
WARNING
When working underneath the vehicle
without appropriate safety stands but
with the wheels on the ground (not
supported), make sure that (1) the ve-
hicle is on hard level ground, (2) the
parking brake is applied, (3) all wheels
are blocked (front and rear) and (4) re-
move the ignition key so that the en-
gine cannot be started. Failure to com-
ply may result in death, personal in-
jury, equipment or property damage.
