E056 High Fuel Temperature
Warning
Conditions Wh
ich Generate This Code:
The fuel temperature has exceeded the trip point
and the delay t
ime has expired. The ECM will reset
the warning when the fuel temperature is above the
reset value.
The ECM detects all of the following conditions:
•
The engine ha
s been running at least three
minutes. This three minute delay begins once
the engine speed is within 50 rpm of the low idle
setting.
•
174-02 Fuel Temperature Sensor erratic or
intermitte
nt
System Response:
The ECM will log the event. The event code can be
viewed on the diagnostic screen of the electronic
service too
l.
Troubleshooting:
•
There may be a problem with the fuel system.
•
There may be
a problem with the fuel temperature
sensor.
Test Step 1.
Check for D iagnostic Codes.
A. Connect the electronic service tool to the service
tool connec
tor.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. The engine
should be o
ff.
C. Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged
diagnosti
c codes.
Expected Result:
There should be no diagnostic codes that are present.
Results:
•
OK – Proceed to Test Step 2.
•
Not OK
Repair: Repair the diagnostic codes that are
present. Refer to the appropriate topic in the
“Troubleshoo
ting With a Diagnostic Code” section
of this manual.
Ensure that th

Test Step 2. Perform a Check of the Fuel
System.
A. Perform a che
ck of the fuel system. Refer to the
appropriate topic in Testing and Adjusting for
possible causes.
Expected Result:
There are no p
roblems with the fuel system.
Results:

OK – There may be an intermittent problem.
Repair: Moni
tor the operation of the engine.
Repair the problem.
Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.
STOP.

Not OK
Repair: Repair the problem.
Ensure that
the repair eliminates the problem.
STOP.
