Troubleshooting Section
The engine has been running for at least 5
seconds.
The engine speed is above 350 RPM.
The engine oil pressure is less than 100 kPa
(14.5 psi).
The two second delay time has expired.
No codes for th
e engine oil pressure sensor are
active.
System Respon
se:
The code is logged. The ECM will reset the shutdown
when the oil pr
essure rises 21 kPa (3 psi) above the
low pressure trip line for 20 seconds. If the engine
shutdown input is “ENABLED” and there is no rise in
oil pressure
above the trip line, the fuel will be shut
off after the two second delay has expired.
Possible Per
formance Effect:
Theengineisshutdown.

Results:
OK STOP.

E054 High Fuel Temperature
Derate
Conditions
Which Generate This Code:
The engine has been running for at least 3 seconds
and the fuel
temperature is above the trip point for
the machine’s application.
System Resp
onse:
The warning lamp will flash while the “Derate” is
active.
The electronic service tool will display “Engine
Derate in
the first engine status box on any electronic
service tool status screen.
The ECM wil
l generate a EID E054 event code on
theDataLink.Theeventcodewillbedisplayedona
diagnostic screen of the electronic service tool.
Troubleshooting:
Theremaybeaproblemwiththefuelsystem.
There may be a pr
oblem with the fuel temperature
sensor .
Test Step 1. Ch
eck for Diagnostic Codes.
A. Connect the electronic service tool to the service
tool connecto
r.
B. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position. The engine
should be off.
C. Check for any active diagnostic codes or logged
diagnostic co
des.
Expected Result:
There should be no diagnostic codes that are present.
Results:
OK Proceed to Test Step 2.

Ensure that the repair eliminates the problem.

possible causes.

There are no problems with the fuel system.
Results:

Repair: Monitor the operation of the engine.
Repair the problem.
Ensure that
the repair eliminates the problem.
