Pump, CAN Fault
Conditions Wh
ich Generate This Code:
This code is generated by the fuel injection pump.
The fuel injection pump detects one of the following
conditions:
•
Failure of the CAN Data Link
•
The ECM sends i
ncorrect data.
•
The fuel injection pump sends incorrect data.
The ECM will log the diagnostic code. The diagnostic
code may be viewed on the electronic service tool.
System Response:
The ECM will c
ause the fuel injection pump to stop
the injection of fuel.
Possible Per
formance Effect:
TheECMwillcausethefollowingconditions:
•
The engine will shut down.
•
Theenginewi
ll not start.
Troubleshooting:
Further troubleshooting is required.
Connect a tes
t ECM in order to determine if the
original ECM is the cause of the problem.
Note: The par
ameters of the test ECM must match
the parameters in the suspect ECM. If the test ECM
resolves the problem, reconnect the suspect ECM.
Verify that
the problem returns. If the problem returns,
replace the suspect ECM.
Expected Re
sult:
If the fault is cleared then STOP.
If the fault is still active, perform the following
Troubleshooting, “CAN Data Link Circuit - Test”.
If the fault is cleared then STOP.
If the fault is still active, contact the Perkins Technical
Support Centre
in order to change the fuel injection
pump. The warranty of the fuel injection pump will
be affected if the pump is replaced without prior
consultation
.
Replace the fuel injection pump. Refer to Disassembly
and Assembly
, “Fuel Injection Pump Remove and
Install”.
Check for act
ive diagnostic codes.
Results:
•
OK – STOP.

Error
Conditions Which G enerate This Code:
The Electro
nic Control Module (ECM) detects one
of the following improper responses from the fuel
injection pump.
•
Open circuit
•
Wire shorte
dhigh.
•
Wire shorted low.
The ECM will log the diagnostic code. The diagnostic
code may be viewed on the electronic service tool.
System Response:
The engine m
ay shut down while the diagnostic code
is active. Also, the engine may not start while the
diagnostic code is active.
