MIC pin locations for the mode selector switch
A. Turn the keyswitch OFF.
B. Thorough
ly inspect J1/P1 ECM connector, and the
J20/P20 MIC. Refer to Troubleshooting, “Electrical
Connectors - Inspect” for details.
C. Perform a 45 N (10 lb) pull test on each of
the wires in the P1/J1 ECM connector and the
P20/J20 M
IC that are associated with the Mode
Selector Switch: Refer to illustration 111 and 112.
D. Check th
e J1/P1 ECM connector (Allen head
screw) for the proper torque of 2.25 ± 0.25 N·m
(20±2lbin).
Check the J20/P20 Machine Interface Connector
(MIC) for the proper torque of 6.0 N·m (55 lb in).
E. Check the harness and wiring for abrasions and
for pinch points from the battery to the ECM.
Results:

OK – Proc
eed to Test Step 2.

Not OK
Repair: Repair the connectors or wiring and/or
replace the connectors or wiring. Ensure that all of
the seals
areproperlyinplaceandensurethatthe
connectors are completely coupled.
Verify th
at the repair eliminates the problem.
STOP.
•
– If the problem has not been eliminated proceed
to Test Step 2.
Test Step 2. Check the Status of the Mod e
Selector Switch
A. Turn the
keyswitch to the OFF position.
B. Connect the electronic service tool to the
diagnos
tic connector.
C. Turn the keyswitch to the ON position.
D. Monitor the status screen on the electronic service
tool. Cycle the mode switch to the ON position
and to t
he OFF position.
