Engine Oil Level Switc h Circuit
-Test
System Operation Description:
The L ow Oil L
evel Switch signals the Electronic
Control Module (ECM) if the oil level falls below a
predetermined level in the oil pan. The ECM warns
the operato
r of possible engine damage. The switch
uses a float that closes the circuit when the oil level
is above a predetermined level.
The ECM may modify the operation of the engine in
the event of low oil level. The ECM cannot determine
if the oil l
evel switch or associated components have
failed.
