Test Step
1. Check the Locking of the
DT Connec
tor (D eutsch) and Check the
Lock Rin
g of the HD Style Connector
(Deuts
ch).
A. Ensure that the connector is properly locked. Also
ensure
that the two halves of the connector can
not be pulled apart.
B. Verify
that the latch tab of the connector is properly
latched. Also verify that the latch tab of the
connector returns to the Fully Latched position.
Expected Result:
Check t
hat the connector will lock securely. Also
check that the connector and the locking mechanism
are without cracks or breaks.
Results:
OK Pr
oceed to Test Step 2.
Not OK Repair the connector or replace the
conne
ctor, as required.
Repair: V
erify that the repair has eliminated the
fault.
If the rep
air has not eliminated the fault, proceed
to test step 2.
Test Step
2. Check the Allen Head Screw
on the Co
nnector for the Electronic
Control Module (ECM)
A. Ensure t
hat the connector bolt is properly
tightened. Be careful not to overtighten the bolt
and break the connector.
B. Do not exceed 6.0 m (55 lb in) of torque on the
connector bolt of the ECM when the P1/J1 ECM
connect
or is being installed on the ECM.
Expected Result:
The ECM connector is secure and the connector bolt
of the ECM is properly torqued.
Results:
OK Pro
ceed to Test Step 3.
Not OK Secure the ECM connector.
