NOTE: To keep the handcuffs ready for immediate use do
not double-lock them while they are not in use.
DOUBLE-LOCKING THE CUFFS:
To lock the handcuff, insert the pin on the back of the
key into the hole on the cheek and push in the key until it
engages. The cuff is now stopped from closing any further,
preventing injury to the wrist.
HANDCUFFING A SUSPECT:
Place the jaw of the handcuff against the suspect’s wrist and press the jaw into the cheek to
tighten the cuff against the skin. Be careful that the skin is not pinched in the jaws and that
blood circulation is not impeded. The jaw locks in the ratchet and the cuff now can be opened
only by using the key. Apply the other cuff in a similar manner.
Double-lock the handcuffs after both cuffs are in place.
UNLOCKING THE HANDCUFFS:
If the cuff is single-locked, insert the key into the keyhole
and turn it clockwise.
f the cuff is double-locked, insert the key into the keyhole
and first turn it counterclockwise (1) overcoming a slight
resistance. This releases the double lock. Then turn the
key clockwise (2), releasing the jaw.
