Using the Balance 20X
Can it isolate IoT devices from computers used for work?
Yes. This is a very useful feature as more and more people work from home.
Multiple VLANs can be established and the admin has control as to whether traffic is
permitted to flow between them. This can also be accomplished on a "per-port
basis". A partition can be effectively established between various types of devices
and users.
I see there are 5 antenna connectors on the Balance 20X and 5
antennas are supplied. Are all 5 antennas needed?
There are 2 x LTE antennas (ACW-813), 2 x 2.4/5GHz Wi-Fi antennas (ACW-341)
and 1 x GPS antenna (ACW-232) included in the package. It is recommended to
connect all supplied cellular and Wi-Fi antennas. The GPS antenna is optional and
dependent on whether you require the tracking feature.
Why would I use PepVPN?
PepVPN is a capability built-in to the Pepwave Balance 20X. It permits the user to
construct a VPN tunnel between Peplink devices. This tunnel may be set up to be
unencrypted or even encrypted with AES-256 encryption. For example, if you have
a Balance 20X at home and a Peplink Balance series router at work, or in a different
location. You can establish a connection between the two locations, allowing the
flow of resources from one location to the other. (Either a Layer 2 or Layer 3 tunnel
may be constructed)
Is a means for remote access provided?
Yes, users can access the router remotely using either L2TP or OpenVPN.
How do I set up Wi-Fi mesh?
Here’s a detailed video explaining how to do so.
