Focusing

Set the focus mode switch to either

for information on how to take pictures in \ mode.
Selects the autofocus method in = mode.
Setting the Focus Mode

Autofocus
The camera automatically focuses on the subject when
the shutter release button is pressed halfway.
\
Manual focus The focus can be adjusted manually.
In = mode, when the subject is in a dark location, the AF assist light is used
when the shutter release button is pressed halfway. If you do not want to use
the AF assist light, set [AF Assist Light] (p.72) to P (Off) in [AF/MF Settings] of
the [A Rec. Mode 1] menu.
Setting the Autofocus Method

Face
Detection
Detects and tracks faces of people. (default setting)
The main face detection frame for autofocus and auto
exposure is displayed in yellow.
E
Tracking
Tracks the subject in focus when the shutter release button is
pressed halfway.
