Basic Operations

The flash modes that can be selected differ depending on the capture mode.
1 Press the four-way controller (4) in standby mode.
The Flash Mode setting screen appears.
The flash modes that can be selected for the set capture mode appear.
2 Use the four-way controller (45)
to select a flash mode, and press
the 4 button.
The camera is ready to take a picture.

Slow-speed
Sync+Red-eye
Discharges a pre-flash for red-eye reduction before
the main flash is discharged with Slow-speed Sync.

Trailing Curtain
Sync
Discharges the flash immediately before closing the
shutter. Captures moving objects as if they are
leaving a trail behind. (p.223)

e/c E/F/G/H/I
b/a/p E/F/k
The flash does not discharge in the following capture modes:
- p, a, or C mode
- K (Sunset) or d (Blue Sky) of n mode
- K (Sunset), d (Blue Sky), A (Night Scene), Z (Night Scene HDR),
y (Backlight Silhouette), U (Candlelight), n (Stage Lighting) or
E (Museum) of H mode
A red E blinks while the built-in flash is charging.
