Press the shutter release
button fully.
For g, the self-timer lamp starts blinking
slowly and then blinks rapidly 2 seconds
before the shutter is released. A beep is
heard and the rate increases. The shutter
will be released about 12 seconds after
the shutter release button is pressed fully.
For Z, the shutter will be released about 2 seconds after the shutter
release button is pressed fully.
The shutter can be released from a distance by using an optional remote
control unit (p.249).

Mount the camera onto a tripod.

Press the four-way controller (5) in standby mode.
The Drive Mode setting screen appears.
Select 9 (Single Frame Shooting) in the Drive Mode setting screen to cancel
shooting with the self-timer. The setting is canceled automatically when the
camera is turned off if [Drive Mode] is set to P (Off) in [Memory] of the
[A Rec. Mode 3] menu. (p.201)
The Shake Reduction function is fixed to R (Off).
You can set the camera so that the beep does not sound. (p.192)
Shooting with a Remote Control Unit (Optional)

Remote Control
The shutter is released immediately after the shutter
release button on the remote control unit is pressed.

Remote Control
(3 sec. delay)
The shutter is released about 3 seconds after the shutter
release button on the remote control unit is pressed.
Shooting with a remote control unit is not available in the following situations.
- when p mode, or \ (Moving Object)/Z (Pet)/R (Kids) of H mode is set
- when Interval Shooting is set
