Look through the viewfinder
and press the shutter release
button halfway down to focus
on the subject.
The focus indicator []] lights up in
the viewfinder when the subject is in
focus.
(The subject is out of focus when it is
blinking.)

Set the focus mode lever to
k.
• The focus is locked while []] is lit (focus lock). To focus on another subject,
take your finger off of the shutter release button first.
• The shutter cannot be released until the subject is in focus in l (single
mode). If the subject is too close to the camera, move back and take the
picture. Set the focus manually when the subject is difficult to focus. (see
page 78)
