Mode dial
There are 8 recording modes can be set by turning the Mode dial, such as
Intelligent Scene, Scene mode, Continuous Shooting, HDR, Manual
Exposure, Night Portrait, Handheld Night Shot and Program. Once turning
the Mode dial, it will enter the selected mode immediately even in Playback
mode or during movie recording.

The table below shows the available settings for Mode dial.
Icon Mode Description
Intelligent Scene
The camera detects the shooting conditions and automatically switches to
the appropriate scene mode. See "Using Intelligent Scene" on page 25 for
more details.
Scene mode
Turns the mode dial to enter last used Scene mode. Press the MENU button
to select other scene mode. See "Setting the Scene Mode" on page 25 for
more details.
Handheld Night
Shot
This feature is used to capture images with night scenery background.
Night Portrait
This feature is used to capture portrait pictures with night or dark
background.
Continuous
Shooting
Turns the mode dial to enter last used Continuous Shooting mode. See
"Using Continuous Shooting" on page 28 for more details.
HDR
This feature applies digital processing only to the necessary portion(s) of the
image and preserves details in highlights and shadows with natural contrast.
Program
The camera automatically adjusts suitable shooting settings like shutter
speed and aperture values.
Manual Exposure
This feature lets users to adjust the shutter speed and aperture value to
correctly expose your images. See "Using Manual Exposure" on page 28 for
more details.
