Note the oil level visible in the sight
glass.
When correct, oil should be visible in the
sight-glass at a point mid-way between
the upper (maximum) and lower
(minimum) horizontal lines marked on
the crankcase.
If necessary, top up the oil level as
described earlier.
Once the correct level is reached, fit and
tighten the filler plug.
Oil and Oil Filter Change
1. Oil drain plug
2. Oil filter
The engine oil and filter must be
replaced in accordance with scheduled
maintenance requirements.
Warm up the engine thoroughly, and
then stop the engine and secure the
motorcycle in an upright position on
level ground.
Place an oil drain pan beneath the
engine.
Remove the oil drain plug.
Unscrew and remove the oil filter using
Triumph service tool T3880313. Dispose
of the old filter in an environmentally
friendly way.
Apply a thin smear of clean engine oil to
the sealing ring of the new oil filter. Fit
the oil filter and tighten to 10 Nm.
After the oil has completely drained out,
fit a new sealing washer to the drain
plug. Fit and tighten the plug to 25 Nm.
Fill the engine with a 10W/40 or 10W/50
semi or fully synthetic motorcycle
engine oil that meets specification
API SH (or higher) and JASO MA, such as
Castrol Power 1 Racing 4T 10W-40 (fully
synthetic) engine oil, sold as
Castrol Power RS Racing 4T 10W-40
(fully synthetic) in some countries.
Start the engine and allow it to idle for a
minimum of 30 seconds.
