With nearly infinite control over EQ and gain structure, the VB-3 is the perfect centerpiece of your favorite tube bass rig.
Front Panel 6 7 4 3 2 1 5 1 8 Input Jack 1/4" phone jack for connection of your instrument to the amplifier. 2 15 dB pad Engaging this switch reduces the input signal by 15 dB to reduce potential distortion on the input when using active basses or passive basses with particularly hot pickups. 3 Bright Switch Engaging this switch boosts the high-frequency response of the input circuit on both channels. It is used to accentuate highs above ~3 kHz or to emphasize high-end response.
8 Compression Control/Enable Switch These are the user controls for the on-board optical tube-type compressor circuit. When the ENABLE switch is engaged, the COMPRESSION control is functional as indicated by the LED located above the ENABLE switch. (Note: This switch must be depressed for the remote switch to operate.) When this mode is active, the COMPRESSION LED on the footswitch is on (green).

Resonance Control Adjusts the low-frequency damping factor of the power amplifier, which gives the amp a "tighter" sound when fully dialed counter clockwise and an increasingly "looser" sound when adjusted clockwise.

Effects Return This jack provides a low-level return for outboard effects outputs and can also be used as a low-level power-amp input. Lights This control sets the intensity of the front-panel backlighting.
Notes on Tube Replacement WARNING! Never use ANY power tube type other than EL34, 6CA7, KT77 or 6L6GCs. Doing otherwise may result in damage to the amp, unpredictable performance, and/or electric shock. -Use or specify a matched octet (8) of EL34/6CA7 or 6L6GC power tubes, depending on the setting of the internal bias switch. -Have the bias set by a professional. This should be done every time ANY of the power tubes are replaced.
