ENGLISH QW ™ 118P Powered Subwoofer Thank you for purchasing the QW™-118P, the powered version of the QW 118. The QW 118P is designed, from start to finish, with flexibility in mind.
REAR PANEL 5 5c 5d 5a 5e 7 11 5b 7c 7d 6 7a 7b 8 9 10 10a 10b 3 1 2 REAR PANEL DESCRIPTION Fuse (1) The unit is AC power line fuse protected from overload and fault conditions with an ABC-type, fast-blow 15 Amp fuse. This fuse is located within the cap of the fuse holder. If the fuse fails, THE FUSE MUST BE REPLACED WITH THE SAME TYPE AND VALUE IN ORDER TO AVOID DAMAGE TO THE EQUIPMENT AND TO PREVENT VOIDING THE WARRANTY.
Inputs (5) The left (5a) and right (5b) channel input jack groups consist of a combo female XLR and 1/4" TRS connector and a male XLR in parallel. This arrangement allows the audio input signal to be daisy-chained. In other words, you could hook-up other power amps, powered speakers, more QW 118Ps or other devices. Unbalanced left and right RCA-type input jacks (5c) are also provided for CD players or similar units. A Mono switch (5d) feeds the left input to both channels when not running in stereo mode.
OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS CAUTIONS The heat sink on the back plate can become hot to the touch. Do not block or cover the heat sink from ventilation. Ventilation: This unit must have at least 6" (15.5 cm) of clearance on all sides for proper ventilation. Please include the triangle/exclamation point symbol. DO NOT connect the inputs of the QW™-118P to the output of a power amplifier. The inputs are meant to be driven from a line-level strength signal.
Use of high-quality premium cables is recommended for the QW 118P. These cables typically have better shielding and materials and will provide greater long-term reliability. It is also a good idea to leave some slack at each end of the cable connection and tape the cables down or run them under a cable guard to avoid accidents. Volume Control Adjustment The QW 118P is equipped with a Master System Level volume control (6).
QW 118P as a Subwoofer Only (Add-On Use) When using the QW 118P as a powered subwoofer only, run a full-range stereo signal to the inputs (5) or plug a mono signal into the left Input (5a), and engage the Mono switch (5d). The subwoofer will reproduce frequencies from approximately 40 Hz to 120 Hz. QW 118P: Subwoofer with Built-in Crossover To fully utilize the built-in crossover, a line-level, high-pass signal is available at the high-pass output jacks (8).
If there is still no output, contact your authorized Peavey dealer or the Peavey International Service Center. Hum or Buzz If the QW 118P is producing a hum or buzz, this can be AC outlet-related. Try plugging the QW 118P into a different AC outlet. Sometimes, if a different circuit (breaker) is used for the mixer and the QW 118P, hum problems can occur. Ensure that shielded cables have been used to route the signal to the QW 118P’s inputs.
If you are using additional speakers hooked up to the left and right outputs (9), ensure they are of an 8 Ohm minimum impedance. Remove the speakers temporarily to determine if this is the source of distortion. If the distortion is emanating from the left and right speakers, the total capacity of QW 118P, or the speakers has possibly been exceeded. Reduce the drive level and recheck the speakers for impedance (8 Ohms minimum).

QW-118P: Crossover Integrado Para utilizar correctamente el crossover integrado, una señal de nivel de línea está disponible en la salida de agudos (8).
Una vez seguros que la unidad está recibiendo corriente eléctrica, hay que verificar que el QW-118P está recibiendo señal. Desconecta el cable de entrada al QW-118P y conéctalo a otro aparato capaz de reproducir señal (Ej. Un amplificador con parlantes). Si esto produce señal, hay que verificar que el Nivel Maestro está subido a un nivel satisfactorio (1/3 o 1/4 arriba). Si sigue sin haber salida, puede ser recomendable leer el manual completo.
Las QW-118P cuentan con un ecualizador integrado para extender la respuesta suave y natural de los parlantes del sistema. Se aplica un incremento en los graves y en las frecuencias agudas, y la respuesta del sistema es bastante plana y requerirá poco o nada de ecualización posterior. Si se han incrementado considerablemente las frecuencias graves o agudas externamente, esto puede causar saturación prematura a niveles de presión altos. Trata de reducir los ecualizadores externos (de consola, de rack, etc.

MANUEL D’UTILISATIOIN OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Attention Vous devez positionner votre unité à plus de 30 cm de toute paroi combustible. Ne jamais connecter les entrées de votre QW™-118P aux sorties d’une unité de puissance, ces entrées sont prévues pour un signal de niveau ligne. NE PAS ENLEVER la grille de protection. NE PAS UTILISER les groupes de connecteurs des entrées comme unité de mixage, en envoyant plus d’un signal par coté.
Les unités de puissance de votre QW-118P sont munis du circuit de protection DDT. Une LED (11) située proche du contrôle de volume (6) s’illumine pour vous indiquer l’activation du DDT. Celui-ci réduit le gain de votre signal à la moindre détection d’une saturation, vous permettant d’éviter tout phénomène d’écrètage, dangereux pour vos enceintes. Des effets de Larsen ou une très mauvaise source peuvent également déclencher le DDT.
2 QW™-118Ps avec 2 Enceintes Satellites Postionnez les interrupteurs Mono/Stéréo (5d) en position Mono sur les deux QW-118P. Sur chacune d’elles, envoyer un côté de votre signal Stéréo (une QW-118P pour le signal droit, l’autre pout le signal gauche). Connecter sur chaque QW-118P une enceinte passive à sa sortie gauche (LEFT OUTPUT (9)). Vous obtenez alors un système Stéréo avec une QW-118P et une enceinte passive par côté.
Vibration/Craquement de Haut-parleur Votre QW-118P peut produire un signal d’une forte puissance à de très basses fréquences. Elle est capable de faire vibrer tout type de matériel présent. Elle peut également provoquer des vibrations sur des étagères, un plafond suspendu, des poignées de portes,…tout ce qui n’est pas solidement fixé! Assurez vous que les vibrations que vous obtenez ne proviennent pas de ces matériels, et non de votre QW-118P.
Le signal présent à l’entrée sera électroniquement divisé en deux signaux (l’un basses fréquences, l’autre hautes fréquences) grace à un filtre de quatrième ordre de Linkwitz-Riley centré sur 120 Hz. Les basses fréquences peuvent être retravaillées par le kosmos® pour permettre une meilleure projection de celles-ci. Le signal des hautes fréquences est filtré et pour ne voir aucune basse fréquences et protéger vos enceintes additionnelles.

Diese Sicherung befindet sich im Deckel der Sicherungsfassung. Sollte die Sicherung ausfallen, MUSS SIE DURCH EINE SICHERUNG DERSELBEN ART UND MIT DENSELBEN WERTEN ERSETZT WERDEN, UM EINE BESCHÄDIGUNG DER GERÄTE UND EINEN VERFALL DER GARANTIE ZU VERHINDERN.
Power-Schalter (3) Steht dieser Kippschalter auf der Position ON, wird das Gerät mit Netzstrom versorgt. Power-LED (4) Diese LED leuchtet auf, wenn die Vorverstärkerelektronik mit Strom versorgt wird und der Power-Schalter auf ON steht. Eingänge (5) Bei den Kanaleingangssteckern links (5a) und rechts (5b) handelt es sich um einen Combo-XLR-Stecker weiblich, einen 1/4"-TRS-Stecker sowie einen XLR-Klinkenstecker, die alle parallel geschaltet sind.
BETRIEBSANLEITUNG BETRIEBSANLEITUNG ACHTUNG! Der Kühlkörper an der Rückwand kann heiß werden, daher darf er nicht berührt werden. Der Kühlkörper darf nicht blockiert oder abgedeckt werden, da ansonsten die Belüftung beeinträchtigt wird. Belüftung: Belassen Sie auf allen Seiten einen Abstand von mindestens 15,5 cm, um eine angemessene Belüftung des Gerätes zu gewährleisten. Schließen Sie die Eingänge des QW-118P NICHT an den Ausgang eines Verstärkers an.
Ein üblicher unsymmetrierter 1/4"-Kopfhörerstecker ist zwar gut geeignet, und der symmetrierte Eingangsschaltkreis bietet auch gewissen Schutz gegen Störgeräusche, ein symmetriertes Kabel mit 1/4"-TRSKopfhörerstecker oder XLR-Stecker bietet jedoch eine wesentlich bessere Leistung. Beim Anschluss an die Cinch-Klinken oder eines 1/4" Mono-Steckers an die Combo-Klinke arbeitet die Thru-Klinke im unsymmetrierten Modus.
Die Nennpolarität dieser Ausgänge ist positiv an Stift 2, und sie können direkt an die meisten Full-RangePower-Lautsprechersysteme angeschlossen werden. Sollten Brummen oder ähnliche Probleme mit Brummschleifen auftreten, kann versucht werden, die Erdung am zum QW-118P zeigenden Ende des symmetrierten XLR-Kabels hochzuheben. Dies kann ganz einfach mit dem Ground-Lift-Schalter (10b) unter der Hochpass-Ausgangsklinkengruppe durchgeführt werden.
Einsatzbereiche Der QW-118P eignet sich für eine Vielzahl von Einsatzbereichen wie etwa Beschallungs- und Übertragungsanlagen oder Musik-Playback. Wird das Gerät im Dreikanal-Stereo-Modus eingesetzt, eignet es sich auch für den DJ-Einsatz. Natürlich ist der QW-118P auch für den herkömmlichen Einsatz als reiner Power-Subwoofer ganz hervorragend geeignet.
Wird das Gerät im Dreikanal-Stereo-Modus eingesetzt, können gewisse hohe Frequenzen vom Subwoofer erzeugt werden, wenn ein Hochfrequenzsignal in nur einem Kanal vorliegt. Dies ist normal und dürfte kein Problem darstellen. Männlicher Gesang klingt unsauber oder dröhnt Möglicherweise ist der Pegel des Subwoofers zu stark heraufgedreht. Die kosmos®-Einstellungen können zu hoch sein. Verringern Sie den Subwoofer-Pegel, indem Sie den Quake/Sub-Pegelregler (7a) so weit herunter drehen, bis der Sound besser wird.
Das Eingangssignal soll durch eine Line-Pegelfrequenzweiche 4. Grades (Linkwitz-Riley) mit versetztem Pol bei 120 kHz elektronisch in Höhen und Tiefen geteilt werden. Die Tiefen sollen mit kosmos® bearbeitet werden können, um eine Verstärkung der Bässe zu liefern, und Subsonic-Filterung und umfassende Frequenzbearbeitung sollen möglich sein. Die Höhen sollen hochpassgefiltert sein. Die Box soll aus hochwertigem 19 mm starkem Sperrholz mit abriebfester schwarzer Hammer Head™Beschichtung gefertigt sein.
