Note: If you do not have speech synthesizer data installed, only the Install voice data setting
is available.
Listen to an Example
You can listen to an example by playing a brief sample of the speech synthesizer, using your
current settings.
► Press > and touch Settings > Voice input & output > Text-to-speech
settings > Listen to an example.
Always Use My Settings
Check to always use the settings on this screen in place of speech synthesizer settings
available in other applications.
1. Press > and touch Settings > Voice input & output > Text-to-speech
settings.
2. Select the Always use my settings check box.
Default Engine
This menu opens a dialog where you can set the default engine (text-to-speech application) you
want to use, if you have more than one installed.
► Press > and touch Settings > Voice input & output > Text-to-speech
settings > Default Engine.
Install Voice Data
If your phone does not have speech synthesizer data (voice data) installed, this menu connects
to Android Market and guides you through the process of downloading and installing the data.
This setting is not available if the data is already installed.
► Press > and touch Settings > Voice input & output > Text-to-speech
settings > Install voice data.
Speech Rate
The Speech rate menu opens a dialog where you can select how quickly you want the
synthesizer to speak.
► Press > and touch Settings > Voice input & output > Text-to-speech
settings > Speech rate.
