Seller Protection
Chargebacks and the Seller
Protection Policy
A chargeback occurs when your buyer contests
a charge through his credit card company and
the credit card company reverses the charge.
Unfortunately, this often leaves the seller
responsible for 100% of the transaction liability.
When you use PayPal to receive payments, you
can protect yourself against chargebacks by
following the guidelines of the Seller Protection
Policy (SPP).
When you follow these guidelines, PayPal will
protect you from chargebacks. While we know
that sometimes it isn’t possible to follow all of
the above guidelines, you can mitigate your
risk by following most of them. If you decide to
ship internationally, you should still retain proof-
of-shipment, ship promptly, and only accept a
single payment from a single PayPal account.
