Overview
Globally Capable
In its quest to provide premier customer service, Parker
is everywhere. More than 48,000 employees work in
200+ manufacturing locations and 150+ service
centers. They work in 49 countries on 6 continents
and speak close to 100 languages. Another 8,200
distributors and Parker Stores provide service and
support. All Parker operating units connect globally via
an enterprise gateway. This portal provides customers
and suppliers alike a mechanism to deal with the
company's many locations as though they were a
single entity.
Lean Manufacturing Techniques
and Cost Outs
Throughout its 200+ manufacturing operations, Parker
employs “lean” — a systematic methodology for elimi-
nation of waste. Basic “lean rules” are present in all
Parker factories, including value stream mapping,
one-piece flow manufacturing, visual controls, kaizen
events, internal kanban, and concurrent engineering.
ISO, QS, and other certifications are also in place.
Parker is pleased to work with its customers to identify
possible wastes in their own manufacturing processes
to generate “cost out” ideas.
Technology Leadership
Technology has long been at the heart of Parker’s
success. At a corporate level, Parker Central Engineering
leads the way. Using computer simulation and other
techniques, our army of engineers design peak perfor-
mance into flow control, pneumatic, hydraulic, electro-
mechanical, magnetic, thermal, and refrigeration
systems.
The Climate and Industrial Controls Group boasts its
own array of technology resources: a dedicated Applied
Technology Center; test ammonia rigs and supermarket
racks; environmental chambers; vibration, burst, and
impulse testing units; a fuel cell business unit; and
design engineering staff at every division. The results
are clear — more than 150 patents in climate and
control technology over the past 40 years.
