P-A-1 Filter Installation Instructions
1. Locate the sealant ring on the gas mask interface. Thoroughly inspect the ring to ensure the ring
will seal properly.
2. Select the correct filter in accordance to the requirements and chemicals of the work being
performed.
3. Remove plastic film from the filter canister.
4. Screw the filter onto the mask nozzle in a clockwise direction.

5. Locate the grey threaded apparatus on the front of the gas mask interface.
6. Firmly grasp and turn the left and right apparatus in a counter clockwise rotation then pull directly
off to remove the P-A-1 filter adapters.
7. Inspect the orange sealant ring beneath the apparatus to ensure the ring is not damaged and will
seal properly on 3M filters.
8. Select the correct 3M filter in accordance to the requirements and chemicals of the work being
performed.
9. Align opening of filter cartridge notches with filter attachment on facepiece.
10. Turn filter clockwise until it is firmly seated and cannot be further turned.
11. Repeat for second filter.
