Get Acronis Online Backup
As an additional benefit, Parallels provides you with Acronis Online Backup. It is an online backup
tool for Windows 7, Windows Vista, and Windows XP. Acronis Online Backup allows you to back
up your Windows data up to 250 GB with full security and protection. For Parallels Desktop users,
Acronis Online Backup is free for 90 days.
To download Acronis Online Backup, do one of the following:
• Option-click (Alt-click) the Parallels icon
in the menu bar, choose Exit Coherence, and
choose Virtual Machine > Get Acronis Online Backup.
• If the Parallels Desktop menu bar is visible at the top of the screen, choose Virtual Machine >
Get Acronis Online Backup.
Use AppleScript with the Guest OS
You can use AppleScript to open various files and websites in the guest OS applications. You may
need this when creating automated workflows.
To make the explanation more vivid, let's assume that you need to open some .txt file in Windows
Notepad using AppleScript (in AppleScript Editor). The syntax of this command is as follows:
tell application "Notepad"
open "/Users/username/somefile.txt"
end tell
As an example of opening a website in the guest OS application, let's assume that you need to
open "www.parallels.com" in Internet Explorer. The syntax of this command is as follows:
tell application "Internet Explorer"
open "//www.parallels.com"
end tell
