P4100 User Guide for Android 3.0 (Honeycomb) Thank you for choosing the Pantech P4100, our latest device. The Pantech P4100 has many features designed to enhance your mobile experience. With its unique and stylish design, you will enjoy the entire the P4100 experience. This user guide contains important and useful information that will maximize your familiarity with all that the Pantech the P4100 has to offer.
Safety information The following list shows tips to preserve your device as you use it. • • Keep your device and its accessories out of the reach of children and pets. Keep your device in dry conditions and keep it within normal operating temperatures: it may be damaged at temperatures higher than 131°F/55°C or lower than -4°F/-20°C. • Do not dry your device in a microwave oven: sparks may occur and cause an explosion or fire. • Do not use or store your device in dusty, dirty areas.
Switch off in restricted areas Always switch your device off in areas where it is restricted to use it. Switch off in an aircraft Always switch your device off or select the airplane mode (Tap Settings > Wireless & networks > Airplane mode) when you are in an aircraft. Electromagnetic waves emitted by your device may affect the electronic navigation equipment in the aircraft. Switch off in hospitals and near medical equipment Always switch your device off in hospitals and obey their regulations.
Basic instructions Useful tips To understand information contained in this user guide, please keep in mind the following: • • • • It is assumed that you start operating applications of the P4100 from the applications menu. Pop-up windows Pop-up windows can appear on the screen in the following cases and the running application(s) can stop operating: • • When the remaining battery capacity is insufficient; When the remaining memory space is insufficient. Getting Started Follow the outlined steps that should be taken first before using the P4100.
Installing the SIM/USIM card 1. Remove the battery cover by pressing and holding the latch and sliding it up until it is detached from the body. 2. Insert the SIM/USIM card into the slot. Ensure that the gold contacts of the card go against the metal contacts of the P4100. 3. Close the battery cover by sliding it up until you hear “click.” Note It is recommended that you remove the battery cover with both hands since the P4100 is relatively too big to handle with single hand.
Installing the microSD™ CARD 1. Remove the battery cover by pressing and holding the latch and sliding it up until it is detached from the body. 2. Insert the micro SD card into the slot. Ensure that the gold contacts of the card go against the metal contacts of the P4100. 3. Close the battery cover by sliding it up until you hear “click.” About the microSD™ CARD A microSD™ CARD is a removable flash memory card where you can save data. Save pictures and contacts, and download applications to the SD card.
Charging battery 1. Open the protective cover on the down side of the P4100 and connect the charger adapter to the USB connector. Make sure to align the connector as indicated in the image. Otherwise, the charging connector will be damaged and the battery will not be charged. Correct Incorrect 2. Plug in the charger adaptor to an electrical outlet. The battery starts to be charged. 3. Disconnect the charger from the P4100 when the battery is fully charged.
Turning the P4100 on/off To turn on the P4100, 1. Press and hold the LOCK/PWR key for a few seconds. 2. Unlock the screen. To turn off the P4100, 1. Press and hold the LOCK/PWR key. 2. Tap Power off. 3. Tap OK. The screen will turn off in a few seconds. Unlocking screen The screen is locked by default when you turn on power. To unlock the screen, 1. Press the LOCK/PWR key. 2. Drag and draw a circle until the screen is unlocked. Draw a pattern if the screen is protected by pattern lock.
Locking screen To lock the screen, press the LOCK/PWR key. It is recommended to lock the screen to protect information in the P4100 and save the battery. If you want to have the P4100 locked automatically in a predetermined time, refer to page xx for screen timeout. Using touch screen Run an application or perform functions with the touch screen. The following finger actions help you easily understand how to use the touch screen and the P4100.

Basics Learn basic instructions on how to use the P4100. Adjusting the volume 1. Press the volume key + to increase the volume. Press the volume key - to decrease the volume. Note Press the volume key in the idle mode if you want to adjust the ringer volume. If you want to set it to the vibration mode, press the volume key all the way down until the mode appears. Setting silent mode 1. Tap Settings > Sound > Silent mode.
Copying and pasting text 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. Drag a word, phrase or sentence that you want to copy. Press and hold the dragged part. Tap Copy text. Run an application to edit documents. Press and hold the screen and tap Pasting text. Entering text via Swype (TBD) Checking the network and the notification bar Check how the network is working around your current location as well as the current status, simply by tapping on the right bottom of the screen.

Tap Automatic connection if you want the P4100 to connect to the Wi-Fi network automatically. 5. Tap WPS connection and tap Button connection or PIN connection if you want to establish a new wireless connection using the Wi-Fi Protected Setup (WPS). Changing the view mode The view of the P4100 is set to the landscape view by default. If you want to use the P4100 in the portrait view, turn it to the left or right: the view changes automatically by the embedded sensor. Customizing home screen Make your own home screen by adding widgets, shortcuts or changing wallpapers. Note that you have to secure enough space on home screen. Editing applications menu Relocating applications 1. Tap Apps in the idle mode. 2. Tap All or My apps. My apps indicates applications that you have downloaded on the P4100. All indicates applications that are installed by default on the P4100 plus applications of My apps. on the top right side of the screen. 3. Tap 4. Press and hold an application that you want to move and drag it to the place where you want to. 5. Tap Exit if you finish relocating applications on the screen. Uninstalling applications 1.

Clock tools Clock Tools offers the current time in major cities and time zones around the world. World time is displayed first by default.

Note You have to enter a password to read memos that are protected by password. If you fail to type the correct password by five times in a row, you have to wait for one minute. Resetting password 1.

Settings Wireless & networks Setting Airplane mode 1. Tap Settings > Wireless & networks > Airplane mode. If you turn on Airplane mode, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth and GPS functions are turned off at once. However, you can turn on each function for your preference. 2. Tap Airplane mode again to reactivate other functions. Setting Wi-Fi networks 1. Tap Settings > Wireless & networks. 2. Tap Wi-Fi settings to manage the wireless network. Refer to page XX for more information. Setting Bluetooth 1.

Tap Audible selection if you want to play sound when making selection on the screen. 3. Tap Screen lock sounds if you want to play sound when locking and unlocking the screen. 4.
