PREFACE The Panasonic WV-CM2080, WV-CM1780 and WV-CM1480 Colour Monitor’s high resolution S-video input assures high definition picture quality. All monitor functions, except for power and input selection, can be controlled from an onscreen menu. Provided with power saving feature as well as standard BNC and S-video input connectors for connection to CCTV equipment. !5 Standby Control Terminal (STANDBY ON/STANDBY OFF/G) This terminal accepts input from an outboard device to control the standby mode. It operates as follows: STANDBY ON: Establishes the specified standby mode. STANDBY OFF: Releases standby mode (normal display). !6 Audio Input Connectors (AUDIO IN A/B) For audio input from an outboard device !7 Audio Output Connectors (AUDIO OUT A/B) The audio input signal connected to the Audio Input Connector is looped through to this connector.
INSTALLATION The installation described below should be made by qualified service personnel or system installers. ■ Mounting into the Rack for WV-CM2080 The monitor can be mounted into the rack as described below. 1. Place the rack mounting brackets supplied onto the rear of the monitor and tighten with the eight supplied screws (M4 x 10). 2. Install the monitor with the rack mounting bracket in the rack securing it with four screws (not included).
CONNECTIONS The connections described below should be made by qualified service personnel or system installers. Shown below is an example of a basic system connection.
■ Connection with the System Controller If the optional 6-conductor cable assembly is used, simply plug one end of the cable into the DATA port of the Monitor and the other end into the DATA port on the System Controller. If you use cables assembled from locally procured materials, it is important that only high quality, data grade cable, suitable for RS-485 communication (shielded 4-wire twisted pair cable), BELDEN 9406 or equivalent, is used.
SETUP PROCEDURES This monitor offers various onscreen menus for setting user preferences. In the COMMUNICATION SETUP Menu, you can set the parameters for communication between the System Controllers and the Monitors. ■ Displaying the Setup Menu To display the Setup Menu, follow the procedure shown below. 1. Confirm that the cameras and peripherals are connected correctly and securely. 2. Turn the power of the monitor on by pressing the POWER button. 3. Press the MENU button for 5 seconds or more.
● Camera Configuration (CAM CONFIG) This item lets you set numbers for the input from system cameras for RS-485 communication. 1. Move the cursor to CAM CONFIG with the C or D button, then press the - or + button. The CAMERA CONFIG menu shown below will appear on the monitor screen. ● Baud Rate (BAUD RATE) This item lets you set the transmission speed for RS-485 communication. 1. Move the cursor to the BAUD RATE parameter with the C or D button. 2.
OPERATING PROCEDURES ■ Power Up ■ Display Setting Before operating the monitor, confirm that the cameras and peripherals are connected correctly and securely. The Display Setting can be made onscreen as shown below. 1. Turn on the monitor by pressing the POWER button. The Power Indicator lights in green. 2. Select the desired input to be displayed by pressing the INPUT SELECT button. 1. Press the MENU button. The menu shown below appears on the monitor screen.
3. Move the cursor to the BRIGHT, CONTRAST, SHARPNESS, COLOUR, parameter with the C or D button, then adjust the level of the selected item with the - or + button. Move the cursor to the AUDIO parameter with the C or D button, then adjust the audio volume with the - or + button.
■ Audio Volume Control The audio volume can be adjusted with the - or + button in normal view. While the volume is being adjusted, the indicator displays the changed level as shown below. -: Decreases the audio volume. +: Increases audio volume. AUDIO ■ Standby Function 1. Power up the monitor and select the input to be displayed. Refer to Power Up above. 2. Pressing the STANDBY button will toggle the display mode in the sequence shown below.
OPERATING PROCEDURES (with the System Controller) For the following procedure, the WV-CM2080, WV-CM1780 or WV-CM1480 needs to be set up first from the Setup menu. The WV-CM2080, WV-CM1780 or WV-CM1480 can be controlled with the specified System Controller. Given below is an example. For further details refer to the Operating Instructions supplied with the System Controller.
APPENDIX This appendix details the elements for communication between the Monitor and the System Controller. For the communication parameter settings, refer to the SETUP PROCEDURES on page 10. ■ Communication Protocol ● Data Format The controller sends messages to operate the monitor in the format shown below.
