Handling the projector
■ To view clear images
To view clear images with a high contrast,
prepare a proper environment. To prevent
outside light or light from indoor lamps from
shining onto the screen surface, draw the
window curtains or blinds, and turn off the lights
close to the screen surface.
■ Do not touch the surface of the projector
lens with bare hands
If the projector lens surface becomes dirty from
fingerprints or anything else, it will be magnified
and projected onto the screen, thus preventing
you from viewing clear images.
Also, close the top cover when the projector is
not in use.
■ Lamp
A high-pressure mercury lamp with a high
internal pressure is used as the light source in
this projector.
The high-pressure mercury lamp has the
following features.
•
The lamp luminosity deteriorates with
continued use.
•
The lamp may emit a loud noise and burst
due to impact, scratches, or degradation
with continued use, and its life may become
exhausted.
•
The service life of the lamp may vary
significantly depending on individual
differences and usage conditions. Particularly,
continued use for 12 hours or more, and
frequent turning on and off of power may
hasten the degradation of the lamp and
significantly affect its service life.
•
Very rarely, the lamp may burst soon after the
projector starts working.
•
The possibility of lamp breakage increases as
the replacement period is exceeded. Replace
the lamp unit when it is time to replace.
(“Lamp unit replacement period” P. 36,
“Lamp unit replacement procedure” P. 36)
•
When the lamp bursts, the internal gas gushes
out and may look like fumes. Immediately
perform ventilation, and do not inhale the gas.
■ Connecting with external devices
Before connecting an external device, be sure
to thoroughly understand the contents of this
manual, including the use of the mains lead and
cables.
■ Focus adjustment
P. 25
Due to the heat of the light from the light source,
the projector lens does not have a stable focus
immediately after it is turned on. Panasonic
recommends adjusting the focus after at least
30 minutes have elapsed since projection of
images.
■ When using the projector below 1500 m
from the sea level, be sure to set the [High
Altitude mode] to [Off] (The default value is
[Off])
P. 29
Failure to do so could affect the life of the
components, or damage the product.
■ When using the projector above 1500 m
but below 2500 m from the sea level, be
sure to set the [High Altitude mode] to [On]
P. 29
Failure to do so could affect the life of the
components, or damage the product.
■ Do not install the projector at a location
that is 2500 m or higher from the sea level
Failure to do so could affect the life of the
components, or damage the product.
■ Installation precautions
•
Do not use the projector
sideways.
•
Do not cover the air inlet
port or air outlet port of the
projector. P. 15
•
During installation of the
projector, ensure that the
cold air or hot air from the air
conditioner does not come in direct contact
with the air inlet port or air outlet port of the
projector.
•
Do not install the projector in an enclosed
location.
When installing the projector in an enclosed
location, be sure to provide separate air
conditioning and ventilation equipment. In the
case of insufficient ventilation, the exhaust
heat may pile up, which could activate the
protective circuit of the projector.
