Playing discs
Preparation
≥Turn on the television and select the appropriate video
input to suit the connections to this unit.
≥Turn on this unit.
1 Press [THEATER] to switch the remote
control to operate this unit.
2 Press [DVD] to select the DVD drive.
This unit: Press [SELECTOR] to select the DVD drive.
e.g. Display
3 Insert a disc (➡ 24).
4 Press [1](PLAY).
[RAM] [-R] [-R]DL] [-RW‹V›] [+R] [+R]DL] [+RW] [-RW‹VR›]
Play starts from the most recently
recorded title.
[DVD-V] [DVD-A] [CD] [VCD] and MP3
Play starts from the beginning of the
disc.

Adjust the volume with
[
_j
VOLUME].
∫ When a menu screen appears on the television
[DVD-V] [DVD-A]
Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select the item and press [ENTER].
Some items can also be selected using the numbered buttons.
[VCD]
Press the numbered buttons to select the item.
≥To return to the menu screen
[DVD-V] Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR] or [SUB MENU].
[DVD-A] Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].
[VCD] Press [RETURN].
≥The playing method may differ from the one described
above depending on disc types. Read the disc’s
instructions carefully.
To change the sound quality (➡ 48)
[Note]
≥It is not possible to play continuously from one side of a
double sided disc to the other. You will need to eject the
disc and turn it over.
≥Depending on the disc, it may take time for the menu
screen, pictures, sound, etc. to start.
≥Discs continue to rotate while menus are displayed. Press
[∫] when you have finished playback to protect the unit’s
motor, your television screen and so on.

Simply select the recorded programmes (titles) you want to
play from the menu.

Press [3, 4, 2, 1] to select “Previous” or “Next” and
press [ENTER].
≥You can also press [:, 9] to show other pages.

To exit the screen
Press [DIRECT NAVIGATOR].

a disc when timer recording starts.

[RAM] Press [1] (PLAY) when you wish to start playing the
disc while recording (➡ 25, Chasing playback).

[DVD-V]
[DVD-A]
You can change the audio channel number each time you
press the button. This allows you to change things like the
soundtrack language.
[Note]
You cannot change the audio type when a DVD-R, DVD-R
DL, DVD-RW (DVD-Video format), +R, +R DL or +RW disc is
in the disc tray while DVD drive is selected.
∫ If the recorded title is stretched vertically
If recorded to a DVD-R, DVD-R DL, DVD-RW (DVD-Video
format), +R, +R DL or +RW disc, 16:9 aspect image will
record as 4:3 images.
≥You may be able to adjust it by changing the display
mode on your television, please refer to the television’s
operating instructions.
