To adjust the tone quality
A
The tone level can be varied within a range of j6 to i6.
Turn [BASS] to adjust the low-frequency sound.
Turn [TREBLE] to adjust the high-frequency
sound.
Note
The effect works only with playback. It cannot be used in recording.
Hints
Place speakers on stands (not included) to reproduce clearer low-
range sounds.

The sound virtualizer leaves middle-range sounds such as vocals
clear and gives natural width and depth to music.
Sound virtualizer is effective with stereo sound.
Press [SOUND VIRTUALIZER] to display

To cancel
Press [SOUND VIRTUALIZER] to clear the “ ” indicator.
³When listening through headphones, the effect is less discernable
than through the unit’s speakers.
³If interference in FM stereo reception increases, cancel the sound
virtualizer effect.
To mute the volume

[by\remote\control\only]
This feature is convenient when you have a telephone call, etc.
Press [MUTING].
Press the button again to cancel. (“MUTING” goes out.)
Muting can also be cancelled by lowering the volume all the way
(-- dB).
When the system is turned off, the muting operation will be automati-
cally cancelled.
Using an external unit D
Listening to an external source

1. Press [AUX].
2. Start playback from the external source. (Refer to your equip-
ment’s operating instructions.)
Recording from an external source
1. Follow steps [1]–[2] on page 19.
2. Press [AUX].
3. Press [´/´ ; REC/REC PAUSE] (recording starts).
4. Start playback from the external source. (Refer to your equip-
ment’s operating instructions.)
Listening with headphones
Reduce the volume level, and connect the headphones.
Plug type: 3.5 mm stereo
Note
³Avoid listening for prolonged periods of time to prevent hearing
damage.
³When using L-plug headphones (not included), turn the plug to the
right when inserting into the system. E
