Before Requesting Help
Problem
The answering system is on, but
incoming messages are not recorded.
The number of messages on the base
unit display and the ANSWER ON
indicator flashes rapidly, and no new
messages are recorded.
You cannot operate the answering
system at the base unit.
You cannot operate the answering
system from a touch tone phone.
You cannot operate the answering
system with the handset.
While recording a greeting message, the
unit starts to ring and stops recording.
While using the answering system at the
base unit, it suddenly stops.
During playback, the unit starts to ring
and stops playback.
You cannot record your telephone
conversation using the handset.
Remedy
•The recording time is set to “greeting only”. Select
“1 minute” or “unlimited” (p. 23).
•Memory is full. Erase some or all of the messages
(p. 56).
•Memory is full. Erase some or all of the messages
(p. 56). If the number of messages and the ANSWER
ON indicator still flash rapidly, erase your greeting
message and record a shorter one (p. 19).
•The handset user is operating the answering system.
Wait until the in use indicator ( ) light goes out.
•Make sure you enter the correct remote code.
•The answering system may not respond if the tones
are too short to activate the unit. Press each button
firmly.
•The answering system is off. Turn it on (p. 60).
•Someone is operating the answering system.
•You are too far from the base unit. Move closer to the
base unit.
•The unit is recording a message. To answer the call,
press .
•To answer the call, press . The recording
stops halfway. Start from the beginning after hanging
up.
•The handset user pressed .
Wait until the in use indicator ( ) light goes out.
•To answer the call, press .
To resume playback, press after hanging up.
•The conversation cannot be recorded when the
answering system is in use (recording a message,
playing back a message, etc.).
