Fax – sending
Problem Cause & Remedy
The other party complains that
letters on their received document
are distorted.
The other party complains that dirty
patterns or black lines appear on
their received documents.
I cannot make an international fax
call.
●
If your line has special telephone services such as call waiting,
the service may have been activated during fax transmission.
Connect the unit to a line that does not have these services.
●
The extension telephone on the same line is off the hook. Hang
up the extension telephone and try again.
●
The glass or rollers are dirty. Clean them (p. 87).
●
Use the overseas transmission mode (p. 47).
●
Add two pauses at the end of the telephone number (p. 32).
●
Dial the number manually.
Fax – receiving
Problem Cause & Remedy
I cannot receive documents
automatically.
The display shows “CONNECTING”
but faxes are not received.
The recording image is faint.
The received document is blank.

The receive mode is set to the TEL mode. Set to one of the other
modes.
●
The time taken to answering the call is too long. Decrease the
number of rings (p. 53, 57, 77).
●
The greeting message is too long. Shorten the message (p. 63).
●
The incoming call is not a fax. Change the receive mode to the
TEL or TAD/FAX mode.
●
The sender transmitted a faint document. Ask them to transmit a
clearer copy of the document.
●
The recording paper roll is installed incorrectly. Make sure that
the shiny side of the paper is facing down and re-install the paper
(p. 22).
I cannot send documents.
●
The other party’s fax machine is busy or has run out of paper. Try
again.
●
The other party’s machine is not a facsimile. Check with the other
party.
●
The other party’s fax machine rings too many times. Send the fax
manually – dial the number, confirm the fax tone, then press the
button.
