Feature Code Selection
Overseas mode #411 If you cannot send a fax overseas even if the number is correct and the line is
connected, activate this feature before sending the fax.
This feature improves the reliability by reducing the transmission speed.
Calling charges may be higher than usual.
M0N OFF: Deactivates this feature.
M1N NEXT FAX: This setting is effective only for the next attempted fax
transmission. After transmission, the unit will return to the previous setting.
M2N ERROR (default): When the previous fax transmission fails and you want to
re-send the document.
Note:
R This feature is not available for broadcast transmission.
Delayed send
#412 To send a fax at a specific time. See page 58 for details.
ECM selection #413 To set the Error Correction Mode (ECM). This feature is available when the
sending / receiving fax machines are ECM compatible. When ON is selected,
fax transmission / reception will be carried out so that the errors do not occur.

Connecting tone #416 If you often have trouble when sending faxes, this feature allows you to hear
connecting tones: fax tone, ring back tone and busy tone. You can use these tones
to confirm the status of the other party’s machine.

Note:
R If the ring back tone continues, the other party’s machine may not be a fax
machine or may have run out of paper. Check with the other party.
R The connecting tone cannot be adjusted individually.
Maximum fax
speed
#418 To set the maximum fax speed. The fax speed may be lower than the selected
speed depending on your line.
M1N 14.4kbps
M2N 33.6kbps (default)
Quick scan mode #419 To enable quick scan mode. When ALWAYS is selected, the unit will scan the
document and store it into memory first, then the unit will start sending the
documents.

Confirming the
destination
#420 To confirm the destination before sending a fax. When ON is selected, you can
send a fax after confirming the destination. When the displayed destination is
correct, press MxN to send the fax.

Dial keypad entry

#421 If you want to restrict dialling fax numbers manually using the dial keypad (to avoid
misdialling, for example), activate this feature.

Note:
R If you select ON, you cannot make redial calls to fax numbers entered using
the dial keypad.
R If you select ON, the fax number re-entry setting (feature #422 on
page 77) will be deactivated.
